HOST FAMILY

Tri-Cities Baseball and Collegiate Baseball Experience are extremely excited to be a part of the Coastal Plain League! Each season, college players from around the country get the opportunity to play in this highly-competitive league; showcasing their talent and honing their skills.

The NCAA sanctions the CPL meaning certain rules must be followed. Living expenses and stipends are prohibited and each player must be hosted by a local family during their time as part of the team. This creates a very special and unique opportunity for those who would consider providing a player with a home away from home next summer.

We’ve already begun recruiting players for the 2020 season and we want you to consider becoming a host family. If you’re interested, please fill out and submit the fields below and take a minute to complete our questionnaire.

A LASTING IMPRESSION

Hosting a player will have a lasting impact on you and your family.  Throughout the summer, the bond that is made between the family and the player will continue for many years after the season is over.  Often families celebrate the baseball successes of their “college player” throughout his remaining college years.  In 2019 alone, 92 CPL host families were able to celebrate their player’s drafting into the First-Year Player MLB Draft!

The Ellenburg’s, Colonial Heights residents, know the excitement of hosting players first hand having hosted in the CPL for several years.  “We didn’t go looking for this opportunity, this was a community need. Our family loves baseball and we were told that a few players needed a home in the summer to play baseball . . . so we said, send us a few!”

“We opened our home because of the need, but what we really received was so much more. His wife says it best when she describes the experience with teary eyes. “The special bond that is formed, by the time the season ends, they are part of our family. We have kept in touch with all of our players and even watch them play when their college team plays nearby.”

Player Testimonials

My host family experience in Colonial Heights with the Ellenburg family is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I was a long way from home but quickly connected and enjoyed my time in the area. I truly felt like I gained 2 younger siblings that I never had, and even since I left I still really enjoy checking in with the family and hearing about all the accomplishments they continue to make. From little league games to nerf wars to firework shows and much more we had a ton of laughs and memories that I still cherish (and maybe a few tears on the way out). Although it was just a short period of time, I know the bond I created with my host family will last much longer.
